Bahamas. January 5th, part 3 / 5 janvier, partie 3

Nous avons passé la fin du trajet à marcher dans le bateau, sans but. On s'est arrêtées aux boutiques de souvenirs, on a parlé avec Geneviève et Vanessa et on a passé quelque temps dans la salle de spectacle à regarder les gens jouer au bingo. Plus tard, nous sommes allées sur le pont pour voir l'arrivée des Bahamas.

We have passed the end of the time on the boat to walk, without goal. We stopped at the souvenirs boutique, talked with Vanessa and Geneviève and we passed a little time in the show room to watch people play bingo. Later, we went on the bridge the see the cruise boat arrival to the Bahamas.

Vous voyez ce couple ? Peu importe où je les croisais, ils étaient toujours en train de s'embrasser. Tellement qu'à la force, on ne les voit plus et ce n'est qu'en regardant nos photos après qu'on s'aperçoit qu'on les a pris en photos ! lol

See the couple ? No matter where I saw them, they were kissing. It happenned so much time that in the end I didn't saw them anymore and took them in picture without noticing! lol

Le premier coup d'oeil sur Grand Bahama a été très décevant. On s'attendait aux palmiers et aux cocotiers, et ce que nous avons vu à l'arrivée, c'est oui, de l'eau turquoise, mais surtout un île qui ressemblait à un désert. Il y avait des arbustes courbés par le vent et d'autres étaient morts. Il y avait du sable partout. Il y avait aussi des usines et une raffinerie. Bref, tout le monde était déçu, mais personne n'osait le dire. Plus tard, on a appris que si le paysage ressemblait à cela, c'est parce que deux ouragans étaient passés là durant la dernière année. Heureusement, pour nous consoler, il y avait un énorme bateau de croisière accosté, ce qui signifiait sans doute que l'île valait quand même la peine d'être vue.

The first sight on Grand Bahama has been very dissapointing. We thought it'd be full of palm trees and coconut trees. What we saw at the arrival: yes, turquoise water, but curved et dead little trees in the middle of the sand covering the ground. There were also factories and a refinery. Everybody was dissapointed, but nobody wanted to admit it. Later, though we learned that if it looked like that, it's because two hurricanes had passed there in the past two years. Fortunately, there was an enormeous cruise boat to give us hope. I thought that if there were still rich visitors going there, it's because the island is worth the sight.
