Nous avons attendu dans la salle de spectacle pendant que les employés sortaient nos bagages du bateau. Quand nous sommes enfin sortis, il était déjà 1h30. Il faisait chaud, avec mes vêtements d'hiver, mais heureusement il y avait un petit vent frais pour m'aider à endurer le tout !
We've been waiting in the show room while the employees were getting out the luggages from the boat. When we finally got out, it was already 1:30 PM. It was hot, with my winter clothes, but at least there was a cool wind to help me stand it !
Encore une fois, nous avons dû passer par toute une série de files avant de sortir des douanes. Presqu'une heure a passé avant que nous en sortions.
Once again, we had to pass by loads of lines before to get out of the borders. Almost an hour had passed.
Ça commençait à être une habitude... Nous avons encore transporté nos bagages du bateau à l'autobus et de l'autobus à notre hotel, le Royal Islander Resort.
It was becomming an habit... Once again we took our luggages from the boat to the bus, and from the bus to our hotel, the Royal Islander Resort.
Dans l'autobus, ce qui m'a surprise, c'est le manque d'endurance des bahamiens à la chaleur. Il ne faisait pas si chaud dehors, c'était comme en été à Rimouski. Pourtant, l'air climatisé fonctionnait à fond, et malgré mes vêtements d'hiver, j'étais complètement gelée !
In the bus, what surprised me the most is the incapacity of Bahamians to stand the heat. It wasn't that hot outside, no more then in Rimouski during summer. But the air conditionning was at its maximum, and despite my winter clothes, I was freezing !
Une autre fois à l'hotel, la femme de chambre avait mis l'air climatisé dans notre chambre pendant notre absence. Quand nous sommes revenus, la différence de température était si grande que nous étions incapables d'entrer dans notre chambre ! Il faisait trop froid... On est restés dehors un bout de temps, et on pouvait sentir le froid à l'intérieur comme lorsqu'on ouvre un congélateur et qu'on se tient devant ! C'était pareil pour les restaurants.
Another time at the hotel, the chambermaid had put the air conditionning into our room while we were not there. When we came back, the difference of temperature was so high that we just couldn't get into our bedroom ! It was so cold ! We stayed outside for a while with the door opened to let the heat get in, and we could feel the cold air on us just like when we open a freezer and we stay in front ! It was the same thing in restaurants.
Plusieurs détails m'ont étonnée sur la route vers notre hôtel. Premièrement, les gens conduisaient à gauche. Je ne le savais pas. Deuxièmement, plusieurs personnes voyageaient dans le coffre de leur 4x4. Trois: Apparamment, les ceintures de sécurité servent de décoration dans les Bahamas. De plus, il y avait a peu près la moitié des voitures dont le volant était à droite, et l'autre à gauche. Imaginez-vous conduisant à gauche en ayant le volant à gauche. Assez effrayant ! Et imaginez, lorsque le volant est à droite, que vous changez les vitesses de la main gauche... Pas évident ! Il n'y avait pas non plus aucun panneau d'arrêt, seulement des carrefours. Finalement, plusieurs bâtiments avaient fermé leurs portes (je ne savais pas à ce moment là qu'il y avait eu des ouragans).
Many details surprised me on the road to our hotel. First, people were driving left. Second, many people were travelling in the trunk of their 4x4. Third, apparently security belts are just there as decorations. Also, about half of the cars had their wheels on the right side, and the other half on the left side. Imagine driving on the left side of the road, with the wheel on the left side too. Frightening! Or to have the wheel at the right side and have to change the speeds with the left hand... Not easy! There were no stop pannels, only crossroads. And many buildings were closed (I didn't know about the hurricanes at that moment).
On est arrivé à plus de 2h30 à notre hôtel. Les chambres n'étaient pas encore prêtes, de sorte qu'on a dû attendre jusqu'à 4h. On a dû attendre dans la cour intérieure de l'hôtel. On était pathétiques... Épuisés, sales, et puis ceux qui comme moi, n'avaient pas changé de vêtements suaient comme des cochons. Regardez de quoi on avait l'air ! lol
When we arrived, it was already passed 2:30. The bedrooms weren't ready yet, so we had to wait until 4:00 in the yard of the hotel. We looked pathetic: Tired, dirty and those, like me, who had not changed clothes on the boat were sweating ! Look at what we looked like ! lol
La moitié des gens rêvaient de sauter dans la piscine, et l'autre, de se précipiter sous la douche. Je faisais partie de la deuxième catégorie.
Half of the people dreamt about jumping in the pool, and the other, to run under the shower. I was in the last category.
On a été dans les derniers à avoir les clefs de notre chambre. Les gens commençaient à sauter dans la piscine et nous étions toujours là, avec tous nos bagages autour de nous.
We were among the last to get the keys of our bedroom. People were starting to jump in the pool and we were still there, with all our luggages.
Croyez-moi, quand je suis enfin rentrée dans ma chambre d'hôtel, j'ai oublié d'être polie et je me suis précipitée dans la douche. Ça a certainement été l'une des deux douches plus agréables de ma vie! lol
Believe me, when I finally got into the bedroom, I forgot to be polite and I hurried to the shower. It certainly was into my top 2 showers in my life ! lol
