Coupe Memorial / Memorial Cup

Pour ceux qui ne le savent pas, le plus grand événement de hockey junior au Canada, le tournoi de la Coupe Memorial, a lieu à Rimouski cette année. Laissez-moi vous dire qu'il y a du touriste de partout au Canada en ville !

For those who don't know, the biggest junior hockey event in Canada, the Memorial Cup, is in Rimouski this year. Let me tell you that there are tourists everywhere in town !

Le tournoi de la Coupe Memorial dans ma ville natale, je ne verrai probablement plus cela de mon vivant. Je me devrais d'en profiter, mais je pars mercredi matin ! Je vais manquer tous les matchs qui pour moi sont les plus importants: Drummondville vs Rimouski, les demis-finales et la grande finale. Ça me fait chier, mais en même temps l'occasion d'aller à Toronto ne se représentera peut-être pas non plus de sitôt.

The Memorial Cup tournament in my native town, I probably won't see it another time in my life. I should be enjoying it from the beginning to the end, but I am leaving Rimouski on Wednesday ! I will miss all the games that matters to me: Drummondville vs Rimouski, the semi-finals and the final. I am a bit sad about it, but I am telling me that the chance to go to Toronto may not come back early as well.

Bref, revenons-en au hockey, hier nous avons eu droit à un super spectacle de nos Nics contre les Spitfires de Windsor. Après la première période, c'était 0-0. Aucun but, mais étrangement, ça avait été intéressant à regarder quand même. Après la deuxième période, accrochez-vous, c'était 4-3 ! Sept but en une période après n'en avoir fait aucun en première, c'était assez surprenant ! Finalement, le match s'est terminé 5-4 pour l'Océanic. Ouf ! Nous l'avons échappé belle. À la fin, Windsor a sorti son gardien de but et nous avons tous eu chaud. Mais les Nics ont tenu le coup !

Back to hockey, yesterday we had a grat show from our Nics against Windsor's Spitfires. After first period, it was still 0-0. No goal, but strangely, it was very interesting to watch. After second period, be ready, it was 4-3 ! Seven goals in a period after no goal into the first period is more then surprising ! Finally, the game end with the score of 5-4 for the Oceanic. Ouf ! We were scared in the end. Windsor removed their goaler and I thought this was going to be the end. But the Nics held on

Windsor était l'équipe favorite du tournoi au début, mais ils ont perdu leurs deux premiers matchs. L'Océanic est l'équipe que personne ne s'attend voir gagner. Mais on a une victoire et une défaite. La défaite contre Kelowna a été catastrophique par contre. J'espère que les Nics vont continuer à jouer comme lors de leur dernier match !

Windsor was the favorite team at the beginning of the tournament but they lost their first two games. The Oceanic is the team no one sees the cup with. But we have one victory and one defeat. Defeat against Kelowna was awful, though. I hope the Nics are going to continue playing like they did in their last game !

Et je leur souhaite la meilleure des chances pendant que je serai partie...
I wish them the best luck while I am going to be gone...

Erratum

Je reviens sur mon dernier post. Selon mon frère, il n'y a absolument rien d'étonnant dans le fait que tous les billets du Canadien soient déjà vendus, selon lui, ça a été comme ça la saison dernière selon lui. Il m'a montré un magazine qui le prouvaient: le centre Bell a été rempli a pleine capacité à tous les matchs de la saison dernière.

I come back on my last post. My brother told me that there is absolutely nothing extraordinary in the fact that all the tickets for the Habs have been sold for this season. He showed me a magazine that proved that the Bell Center has been to its full capacity every single match last season.

Hier, une de mes collègue de travail a eu un relai où son client lui demandait d'appeller au Centre Bell. La madame de la billetterie a dit qu'il n'y a plus aucun billet pour aucune partie de la saison régulière !!! Wow ! La saison est même pas commencée ! C'est pas croyable, ce qu'ils sont populaires cette année, ces Habs !

Yesterday one of my coworker has had a relay call in which her customer was asking her to call the Bell Center. The woman of the tickets said that there were no more tickets for any game of the regular season !!! Wow ! The season has not even begun ! it's unbelievable, they are quite popular this season, these Habs !

Planche à voile / Windsurfing board

En revenant à la marina de Berthier-sur-Mer, on a vu plusieurs personnes qui faisaient de la planche à voile ! Ça a tellement l'air le fun !

When we came back to Berthier-sur-Mer marina, we saw many people doing windsurfing board. It looks so fun to do !

L'Océanic éliminé / It's over for the Oceanic

Mes espoirs ne se sont malheureusement pas concrétisés. L'Océanic a été éliminé par les Huskies de Rouyn-Noranda, et en quatre parties en plus. Mais on ne peut pas dire que l'Océ ne s'est pas battu. Ils ont perdu par un but seulement trois parties, dont deux en supplémentaire. On ne peut pas se plaindre, puisqu'en milieu de saison, on espérait même pas que l'équipe fasse les séries. Et ils ont fait les quarts de finale, ce qui n'est pas mal du tout.

My wishes have not come true. The Oceanic has been eliminated by the Rouyn Noranda Huskies. And what's more in only four games. But we can't say the Océ has not fight. They've lost by only one goal three times, including twice in over-time. We don't have to complain, since in the middle of the season, we were not even hoping that they would make the playoffs. They've made the quarter final, which is not bad at all.

Maintenant, il n'y a plus qu'à attendre l'an prochain. Et, pour l'instant, il y a les séries de la LNH !

Now, we have to wait till next season. For now, there's the NHL playoffs that are beginning !

À Rimouski la coupe Memorial ! / The Memorial Cup in Rimouski !

On l'a eue ! Rimouski va être l'hôte du plus grand tournoi de hockey Canadien en 2009 ! Ça va être super ! Le colisée va être rénové, les meilleures équipes canadiennes vont se disputer la coupe, Rimouski va bénéficier d'une grande visibilité et va être bourré de journalistes... Une ambiance dont on ne se souvient pas avoir été témoins ! Ah, et puis, le tournoi va générer des bénéfices d'environ 10 millions de dollars... La ville va peut-être l'investir dans le déneigement, qui sait !

We got it ! Rimouski is going to hold the most important Canadian hockey tournament in 2009 ! It's going to be great ! The coliseum is going to be renovated, the best hockey teams of Canada are going to fight for the cup, Rimouski is going to have a great visibility and is going to be full of journalists... An ambiance never seen in Rimouski ! Oh, and the tournament is going to generate profits of approximately 10 millions of dollars that the town may invest in the snow removal, who knows !

Première sortie à raquette / First snow shoe ride

Ça faisait depuis le début de l'hiver que j'avais cette obsession : avoir des raquettes. Mais je voulais m'assurer que mes marches hivernales dans le bois n'étaient pas qu'un loisir passager, et je voulais aussi essayer d'en faire avant d'en acheter. J'avais presque oublié ce désir quand par hasard j'ai découvert ces vieilles raquettes de babiche qui traînaient chez mes grands-parents. Mon grand-père me les a passées pour que je les essaie chez moi derrière la maison.

It's been since the beginning of winter that I had this obsession: have snow shoes. But before I buy them I wanted to make sure that my forest winter ride were not just a temporary activity, and I also wanted to try it before buy them. I had almost forget that desire when I found those old wood and leather snowshoes at my grandparent's. My grand father borrowed them to me so I try them in the forest at the back of my house.

Le coup de coeur. J'adore ! Quand tu marches, tu ne fais presque pas de bruit, de sorte que les oiseaux ne s'enfuient même pas sur ton passage. J'ai pu admirer entre autre une sitelle à poitrine rousse faire un trou dans un arbre pourri.

I love it ! When you walk, it's so quiet that the birds stay near you. I had the chance to see a nuthatch make a hole in a rotten tree.

Le seul ennui, c'est que ces raquettes d'amérindiens, faites à la main par mon grand-oncle il y a des années, ne sont pas du tout faites pour moi. Premièrement, elles sont très lourdes. Mais ce n'est qu'un petit problème à côté du deuxième: elles sont beaucoup trop grandes. La gance de cuir est tellement grande que même serrée à son maximum, elle ne retient pas du tout mon pied. Tourner sur soi ou monter les côtes sans perdre les raquettes devient impossible.

The only problem is that those amerindian snowshoes, home made by my grand uncle years ago, are not made for me at all. First, they are very heavy. But this is only a little problem beside the second: they're too tall. The leather strap is so tall that even tight to its maximum, it doesn't retain my feet. The result is that I can't turn around or climb a slope without loosing them.

Résultat, je ne fais même pas cinquante pas derrière chez moi que je dois revenir à la maison. Quel dommage ! Je regrette de ne pas en avoir acheté avant. Je vais certainement en acheter, mais cette fois des raquettes d'aluminium ultra légères.

The result is that I make fifty steps in the wood at the back of my house and I have to get back home. That is so bad ! I regret I have not bought snowshoes before. I will certainly do, and this time it's going to be super light aluminium snowshoes.

L'Océanic en 5

Alors qu'on les a rabaissés toute l'année pour leurs contre-performances, l'Océanic surprend en éliminant le Drakkar qui a terminé en deuxième place du calendrier de la saison régulière. Et ce, en cinq matchs, s'il vous plaît !

The Oceanic has been the victim of many sarcasms this year because they didn't perform as much as expected. Well, they surprised everybody in beating the second best team of the regular calendar, the Drakkar, and in five games only !

Que peut-on attendre de la prochaine série, cette fois-ci contre les champions de la saison régulière, les Huskies ? Moi je dis qu'on peut s'attendre à tout. L'Océanic les a battus deux fois sur quatre, et ils sont sur une excellente lancée. L'Océanic est bien parti pour devenir l'équipe Cendrillon des séries, celle que l'on attendait pas.

What can we expect for the next playoff against the champions of the regular calendar, the Huskies ? I say we can expect everything. The Oceanic won twice over them during the season, and they are off a good start. I guess the Oceanic could become the unexpected team of the playoffs.

J'ai recommencé le badminton !

Enfin une bonne nouvelle ! J'ai recommencé le badminton ! J'ai trouvé quelqu'un avec qui jouer. On va essayer d'en faire une à deux fois par semaine. C'est trop beau ! Je ne m'étais pas rendue compte de combien le badminton me manquait... et combien le cardio me manquait ! Ouf ! Ça ne fera pas de tort !

At last a good new ! I replayed badminton ! I finally someone with whom I can play. We'll try to play once or twice a week. That's so nice ! I didn't realized I much I missed it... and how I miss cardio ! It can only do me some good !

Savez-vous la meilleure ? Ça faisait deux ans que j'avais pas joué ou presque, et mon ancien coach était là pour me regarder... La HONTE !

Do you know the worst ? It had been almost two years since I had last played, and my ex-coach was there to watch me.... SHAME !

Pour la première fois de son histoire, l'Océanic a gagné ses trois premières parties de la saison, et ce, dans 3 arénas qui leur sont depuis toujours hostiles: Gatineau, Victoriaville et Chicoutimi. Alors, à tous ceux qui me répètent que l'Océ va être aussi nul que l'an dernier, je leur réponds: attachez vos tuques, vous pourriez être bien surpris.

For the first time of its history, the Oceanic have won its first three games, and what's more in three unfriendly arenas: Gatineau, Victoriaville and Chicoutimi. So, to those repeating me that the Oceanic will be as bad as last year, I reply: get ready to be surprised.

C'est la première partie à domicile ce soir, et je ne sais pas encore si je vais y aller ou non. On verra bien.

Des nouvelles d'anciens joueurs de l'Océanic / News from Oceanic's ex-players

Avant la troisième partie de la série finale entre les Ducks d'Anaheim et les Sénateurs d'Ottawa, il y a eu une cérémonie de remise de prix. L'ex-Océanic Vincent Lecavalier, jouant maintenant pour le Lightening de Tampa Bay, a eu l'honneur de recevoir le trophée Maurice Richard pour le meilleur buteur de la ligue nationale. Il devient donc le premier Québécois à le recevoir depuis la création du trophée en 1999.

Just before the third game between the Anaheim Ducks and the Ottawa Senators for the final play-off of the NHL, there's been a ceremony to congratulate players. The ex-Océanic Vincent Lecavalier, now playing for the Tampa-Bay Lightening, has got the Marice Richard trophee for the player who has had the more goals in the season. He becomes the first Quebecer to get it since the trophee's birth, in 1999.

Quelques jours plus tôt on a appris que Sidney Crosby allait devenir capitaine des Penguins de Pittsburgh. Alors que la plupart des grands joueurs de la ligue nationale de hockey entrent à peine dans la ligue ou attendent toujours d'y accéder, le grand Sidney Crosby devient le capitaine de son équipe à 19 ans et 8 mois. Le précédent plus jeune capitaine n'était nul autre que......... Eh oui ! Vincent Lecavalier (à 19 ans et 11 mois).

Some days before, we have learned that Sidney Crosby would become the Penguin's captain. While most good players are at their beginning in the NHL or still waiting to come in, the Great Sidney Crosby becomes the captain of his team at only 19 years old and 8 months. The previous younger captain was.......... Vincent Lecavalier (at 19 years old and 11 months).

Voici ce qu'à dit M.Laflamme, un journaliste qui a interviewé Crosby suite à cette annonce: «Sans même qu'on lui pose la question, Crosby a fait remarquer le fait que Vincent Lecavalier, du Lightning de Tampa Bay, et lui aient joué à Rimouski les a aidés à faire leur marque en bas âge dans la LNH.» Crosby a dit: «Ça en dit long sur le professionnalisme de cette organisation, et nous devons la remercier pour tout ce qu'elle a fait pour nous. On a été bien préparés, et ça a beaucoup à voir dans notre succès. Pour ça, on doit tous les deux être reconnaissants.»

Here's what Mr Laflamme, a journalist that had interviewed Crosby after this new wrote (free translation): «Without having asked, Crosby has noticed the fact that Vincent Lecavalier, of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and him had both played for Rimouski had helped them to be noticeable players of the NHL. » Crosby said (free translation): «It says long on the team's professionnalism, and we must thank her for what she has done for us. We've been well prepared, and it has a lot to do with our success. For that, we must be thankful.»

Il faut cependant avouer que l'Océanic aussi a été bien chanceuse d'accueillir ces grands joueurs...

Les Penguins sont éliminés / It's over for the Penguins

Les Penguins de Pittsburgh se sont faits éliminés dans un cinquième match 3-0 against the Ottawa. Une partie sans intérêt. Je suis super déçue, mais je suis certaine qu'ils reviendront en force la saison prochaine ! Puisque les Penguins sont éliminés, go Lightning, go !

Pittsburgh's Penguins are eliminated in a fifth game that ended 3-0 against the Ottawa Senators. An uninteresting game, in my opinion. I'm dissapointed, but I know that they are going to back even stronger next season ! Since the Penguins are eliminated, go Lightning, go !
